Worlds of ideas

Last night I was wondering what was an "idea", and I funnily thought that in some ways "ideas" are like entities - separate beings.

Ideas are elusive, you get them while you're trying to fall asleep, and they'll be forgotten the next morning. Sometime different people have the same idea at the same time.

Idea are contagious too, you can receive or transmit them during conversation with other people.

Some are playful, you think you have a lot of ideas in your heads, but as soon as you get a notepad and are ready to write them down, you realize they're gone.

Ideas are living around us, and ... while I thought that it all made sense, and even if that was funny ; because nobody (I know) would think that way. I discovered later that in fact the philosopher Plato had a theory on that. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theory_of_forms

Rudolf Steiner goes even further by saying that your thinking process is no more than eyes to see ideas.
"Thinking ... is no more and no less an organ of perception than the eye or ear. Just as the eye perceives colors and the ear sounds, so thinking perceives ideas."

That made my day ---

Rudolf Steiner - How to Know Higher Worlds: We live and act within a world whose deeper aspects are hidden from our physical senses. Yet each of us possesses other faculties which, when cultivated, can lift the veil that separates us from spiritual knowledge
