The Red Pill dog

Alright, listen up, pups, because this old dog has a bone to pick! I may not have opposable thumbs, but that doesn’t mean I’m a simpleton. In fact, I’ve learned a thing or two after years of chasing squirrels and napping in sunbeams. See, knowledge isn’t just about sniffing textbooks (though I wouldn’t mind sniffing a juicy steak one). It’s about real-world experience, and let me tell you, some creatures out there are textbook examples of…well, let’s just say they wouldn’t win any “good boy” awards.

(Ahem) Now, take those feline fiends, for instance. Ever met one who wasn’t at least a little narcissistic? I’m not talking your average, aloof alley cat. I’m talking the malignant ones, the purrfect manipulators. They waltz into your life, showering you with meows and head butts, all the while weaving a web of emotional blackmail you wouldn’t sniff out in a million years.

Then, the drama begins. Outbursts, unexplained disappearances, questionable midnight adventures. You, the loyal, devoted dog, are left bewildered, your tail tucked between your legs. All the while, the cat? Batting at yarn balls, basking in the sun, living their best life. They’ve drained your energy, your enthusiasm, leaving you a shadow of your former self. And for what? A few chin scratches and a can of tuna?

The truth is, pups, these felines don’t play by the same rules. They operate on a different moral compass, or lack thereof. They’re all about maximizing benefits, minimizing effort. Logic? Pish posh! Emotions? Only useful for manipulation. They move on faster than a squirrel on Red Bull, leaving you heartbroken and bewildered in the dust.

Now, I’m not saying all cats are evil. They just…don’t see the bigger picture. They’re like furry toddlers, demanding and self-absorbed. And if you dare question their reality? Well, prepare for a symphony of hisses and hairballs. They’ll bury you in an avalanche of self-serving nonsense until you just roll over and accept your fate.

So, there you have it, pups. A glimpse into the dark underbelly of the feline world. Remember, stay vigilant, stay loyal, and above all, stay true to your canine code. After all, who needs manipulative drama queens when you have the unconditional love and companionship of a good dog?

The least of my problem now

I'm a 57-year-old man, and I used to be a porn addict. I started watching erotic magazines when I was a teenager, and by the time I was in my 30s, and because of the internet, I was addicted. I was watching porn every day, and it was starting to ruin my life, my mental health was impacted. I could not stop.

I was having problems at work and in my relationships. I was also struggling with anxiety and depression. I knew I needed to stop watching porn, but I couldn't seem to be able on my own. It was the peak time for Jenna Jameson, Nikki Tyler, and all the female pioneers of this industry, and their appeal was too much. And I thought, this would never end... what a fool!

But it happened, slowly as the age reached 50, my libido dropped every year a little more. And now I feel nothing, watching porn now, seems strange, I am at peace, most of these porn stars I used to watch have disappeared, the urge is gone.

Sure, it took some time, and I was eventually able to break free from my porn addiction. I'm now clean for over 2 years, and sure I realize how stupid it feels to be under the spell of this addiction, to be unable to control oneself, the sleepless nights, the social awkwardness, the obsession over some porn stars, the idiocy of it all is clear now, that the urge is gone, it is like a 'post nut clarity' that never ends. Aging was the solution, but it also has its bad side.

No, I'm not grateful that my libido dropped. Sure it helped to change my life. But it also means the decline to old age has started, and it is now crystal clear, that lots of time and energy were wasted over this illusion that is porn. That was something I wanted so bad, and now it feels empty. It feels like I am an eunuch in a harem, like I am unable to enjoy a meal in front of a buffet.

Here is a piece of advice for anyone who is struggling with porn addiction: don't be afraid to ask for help. There are people who care about you and want to help you get better. Talk to a therapist, counselor, or support group. You are not alone.

Deleted a reddit account

Today I Deleted my Reddit Account

This is something I’d been considering doing for quite some time, and had just been putting it off.
This morning, however, I found myself in an argument with a random internet stranger over something very small and trivial - this doesn’t happen often, at all.
I think in the two years I’ve been on Reddit, I’ve experienced this maybe three times.
Nonetheless, today it was the straw that broke the camel’s back.

I realized, afterward, that I was actually getting upset over something this person, somewhere on the other side of the internet, whom I would never know and never have to interact with, was saying. That’s not healthy.

I started examining how I’ve been using Reddit over the past several months and realized that the site was cutting into a significant chunk of my day. Reddit hadn’t interfered with my work productivity, but it had become a thing to do late at night, a way of killing time and distracting myself.

One thing was clear: Reddit had ceased to become a useful, positive thing for me.
For someone with an addictive personality (admittedly my own shortcoming), a site like Reddit can easily suck you in with distractions and lead to a lot of time being wasted over what is largely trivial, petty, and inconsequential content.

There are those who jump to defend the community (I’ve been there myself) and would say that Reddit isn’t a site you can really take at face value ; that in order to get the most out of it, you need to get past r/all and build your own collection of specific subreddits relevant to your interests.

That’s very true. This does greatly improve the quality of content you’re exposed to while on the site, but the signal to noise ratio is still very high.

I realized that the vast majority of useful links, news, insights, and resources I was collecting came from other sources, like Hacker News, Twitter, or more often, friends and co-workers.

Usually, by the time I saw something interesting on Reddit, I’d already heard about it from some other source.

As I said, Reddit had ceased to be a positive thing for me and had simply become a distraction.

There are any number of things I could be doing besides Reddit that would make me a happier person.

I could work on personal projects, spend more time with friends and family, start a new hobby, write more, or even give my beagle more belly rubs.

So goodbye, Reddit. It was fun, until it wasn’t.

The trap of porn

From times to times my porn addiction is pointing her head - and I feel the urge to watch a bit of porn.

Why is it a bad idea

In today's world it's very very easy to find porn - porn is everywhere - the discipline required on a daily basis is constantly challenged.
But let see first the reason why the porn addiction is re-emerging ; when life starts to feel like nothing is going nowhere, where I'm frustrated with people, or my job and I need a little gratification...
It could also be that I've caught a glimpse of a pornstar I've particularly enjoyed - but usually I just send her lots of love and move on.

Frustration

The real problem is frustration, might it be accompanied with procrastination, laziness, or lack of motivation - if the discipline is still there, there's no chance that I'll fall for this appeal.
Now that I'm thinking about it, there is a second problem .. the force of habits ; but it could be counter by returning at the place where I found help and support (nofap forum).
Fapping isn't the enemy - the real problem is the lack of desire for conscious living.
Because let's be honest for a minute Pornography is just lies, illusion, smoke and mirrors...

Illusion

The minute you realize that women don't actually enjoy what is happening to them in porn movies - they just pretend to feel pleasured but the truth is .. Porn is just about money .. and by watching pornography I was part of the problem. I wasn't forced to watch these scenes, I did it willfully at first, and then because of the habits - but then I realized all the downside of it, I felt awkward around other people, I had many flashbacks when talking to people or during classes - and it sucked my energy.

Energy sucking

Of course being younger I didn't felt that it would be such a problem but always feeling tired, and down was actually putting me in a loop - because I was still looking for some kind of gratification - that I could only find in fapping. And that's a very difficult trap to escape from, but it's like all addictions really - some drastic changes have to be made, but lucky me I found nofap forums and they helped greatly. Now and then, I help some other fapstronaut back too.

Where I am now

Like I said in the introduction, from time to time I have the urge again - and sometime I give in, but there's a price to pay - which makes me deliberate really hard, to see if that is worth it - and more and more the decision is a strong NO, because that's not worth it. And I would prefer to meditate 20mn instead.
I wish one day, the world will be porn-free, I wish nobody would fall into the porn addiction trap ever again - love is the answer, and love can exist without sex - one night, I was struggling really hard, and discover that I had a feminine side deep down, and that was the part of me I was being rude and negligent, and I felt remorseful, I felt sorry .. that without knowing I had hurt a part of myself for so long.

Being in peace as a human being is being at peace with his male and feminine aspect - and that is the lesson  I've learned from nofap.

Start playing D&D

Back in the days

When I have been introduced to role playing games, back in the 90s - it was like I've discovered a portal to an infinities of new worlds.

I remembered listening to one guy in my class explaining with a lot of gestures the adventure he had on the week end.

Then it has became an priority for me to be initiated into that role playing experience.

First contact

But it wasn't easy, I remembered - back then the dungeon master guide (DMG), monster manual (MM) and player hand book (PHB) were a bit expensive for students, also we gathered the money and started playing with a group of people. It was really fun. But then at first, it was tough because unless you had an experienced player (usually the DM) giving instructions, we didn't know what to do ?! the engine of this game is imagination and initiative, the rest is just structure given by the rules, but when I had to prepare my first game as a DM - I felt a bit lost and kept reading and reading DMG parts that I never had to use (adventure in city, how the guild works, etc ...)

Now I guess it doesn't make much sense, with the plethora of video games ; once you've understood the character creation part and the set of keys to use  - you are set for the game.

Video games killed the RPG Star

Role playing game isn't a big market now, because of the preparation time it requires, it takes a lot of work (compared to the basic video game) before you can assemble a team of players and start an adventure.

Another thing is to find a group of player that will be able to come regularly to session - otherwise it's not very enjoyable in the long run.

But since once again the motor of the role playing game is imagination and initiative ; for the connoisseurs the gratification of a good session is thousands times better than grinding on a video game. My advice is start playing D&D you'll develop a lot of very useful skills like imagination, initiative, empathy, acting, inventiveness, interactivity, organization, story-telling, entertainment, leading, and it's a good way to make friends.

Links

If anybody is interested in discovering role playing I'd recommend this page ; it gives good advices.

Some friends and I want to start playing D&D. What to buy, what to do now?

Translucent Revolution

While various horrific tales of rapes are covering the medias - and as normal reaction people are trying to figure out how to push more legislation, protection, punishment, prevention etc ...

While on the other hand there is a fully functional industry feeding the male with porn, prostitution, erotica, lap dance bar, strip tease, advertisement, phantasmagoria, etc ... and are presenting women has the ultimate toy for male enjoyment (assuming male has money).

There has always been the obvious solution of understanding what sex is all about. Through introspection, and meditation. Awakened people transcend their sexual urges.

“When society reaches a stage where property confers rank, where wealth becomes the only source of virtue, passion the sole bond between man and wife, falsehood the source of success in life, sex the only means of enjoyment, and when outer trappings are confused with inner religion…then we are in the Kali Yuga—the Dark Age.”
—     Vishnu Purana, Book 4, chapter 24.
This may actually come as a shock but the living enjoyment of awakened people put sex as a lesser pleasurable activity.

The truth is Sex isn't the only means of enjoyment.

Of course if people live an unfulfilled life, with a boring stressful job, followed by meaningless activities, sex is probably the only relief in the middle of a blurry, grey, painful succession of tasteless days. And then in desperate occasion they would do dreadful things to satisfy their cravings for sex.

I've been on reddit/r/nofap a couple of times (it's very helpful when sometime you feel that you would let your guard down for a bit), and read many threads, the constant struggle against masturbation will end, the day something better will appear.

Because once you decide to step forward on the road of enlightenment, and meditation - once you put the intent of starting your quest of finding happiness ; you start a revolution.

Then sex isn't the only enjoyment, and you will not be sad or regretful to put it aside - because your entire life will shine, your normal day activity, thoughts, meditation, inspiration, emotions etc ... would surpass the enjoyment of sex. You will return to the source, which is Love.

The Translucent Revolution: Sex is an event of the lower chakras. Awakened people have transcended sex. Sexual energy completely disappears with awakening.

Who am I!

Alan Watts is teaching this as a trick to the mind as well, Sudevi (Ma Nithya Sudevi) is giving a very good explanation here on this video.

On a side-note as a former player of "Role playing game (RPG)", this intriguing question resonates in me in a special way. Since during RPG session every player could play a specific character, and in another play a different character, and then another, etc ... it's still the same player (a form of higher self) - and the arbiter's role (Dungeon Master or DM) is just to make sure every player and their character are obeying the rules, and the whole exercise is just about having fun.

Alan Watts (in another video) is re-introducing this very question in (I think) a way to trigger you into a mind blowing realization, we are an attempt of the whole Universe to explore itself.

This crazy realization is coming back again and again - like a complex fractal entity, the entire Universe woke up and sent infinite numbers of entity through himself to understand himself.

To actually answer the same question : Who am I?

It kind of reminds me of a similar story with a different twist called "The Egg" (found on reddit).

Discoveries so far

When I discovered the "Ascension Guide" I tried to gather as many information as possible afterward, I found out that the author (Master Tony) is an Arcturian star-seed.

So far as much as possible I read and practice what was inside the guide and started meditating, changed my diet, got rid of TV, and most entertainment (I still struggle to diminish my reddit addiction).

And even though, some predictions that drastic "World changes" would be perceived by September (regarding the Ascension process) didn't seem to happened (at least not in the medias) -- this guide had a very good impact overall. Thanks for that Master Tony wherever you are.

Now this guide also introduces me to a whole lot of new paradigms - and just like Philip K. Dick I made the same conclusion he had after reading Plato.
In college I was given Plato to read and thereupon became aware of the possible existence of a metaphysical realm beyond or above the sensory world. I came to understand that the human mind could conceive of a realm of which the empirical world was epiphenomenal. Finally I came to believe that in a certain sense the empirical world was not truly real, at least not as real as the archetypal realm beyond it. At this point I despaired of the veracity of sense-data.
-- Philip K. Dick
Which lead me into discovering Rudolf Steiner, who has even more mind blowing new paradigms in his books (and many are available online for free). Especially his book "Knowledge of the higher worlds and its attainment" - which introduces a lot of new data about Etheric/Astral body and super sensible Worlds.

And later I stumbled upon the Pleiadian author Barbara Marciniak - and for many reasons felt like a strong connection with the family of Light. I might be confused, but the emotional element was there when I read and heard the message. This whole sensation that I've been planted on Earth for a mission, with my memories erased, and I'm waiting for a "signal" while longing for a distant World I used to be in, seems real to me.

Pleiadian star-seed Gigi Young is writing about recent palpable changes regarding Channeling  :
The veils thin and the energetic soup around us continues to magnify and as this happens we draw closer to our highest expression. All that is not congruent with that expression will be experienced as pain. As we release this pain we become lighter and more coherent. Through this process we gain stronger intuition and a clear channel to our higher self.
If I'm not mistaken this "higher self" mentioned by Gigi is what Rudolf Steiner in his lecture called "angeloi" and is actually our next step in evolution (after Saturn, Sun, moon and Earth).

For the record : I can't see auras, I can't channel, but there are many synchronicity I experienced (having a question, and receiving the very answer later in the day) I also had many feeling of bliss during meditations (feeling of being lighter (or lifted in the air)).

My work so far is pretty much organizing information, sorting, checking sources, searching for similarities, and keeping an open mind.

2012 the end of the World ... wide web

It seems that 2012 is starting with a new waves of attack against freedom - and what could be the perfect target for that ?!

The Internet obviously - the last bastion of the free communication in the world - the place where the information is shared freely and can't be controlled - the place where there is still someway to escape the monotony of the clean, aseptic, sterilized, conform and approved speech.

The last bastion holding against a fully commercial World, a giant planetary Supermarket, especially made to indulge people deprived of their liberties to go on shopping spree in order to fill their internal void.

Digg Vs. Reddit

Like I said, previously I'm unemployed and a redditor ; (which tend to lead to some exaggeration on the time I spent browsing ... but that's not the point today).

Today I want to talk about Diggg - it seems that our natural enemy (I'm joking of course!) has made a catastrophic v4 release - ahah!

I've got to confess, I've never quite like digg.com, it looks like facebook filled with comments from youtube, (I found worse once ... mixx.com (just awful).

Therefor I've always been faithful to reddit. And it seems that the glorious day of reddit has finally arouse since digg.com is losing his traffic.

Here's 2  charts to rest my case :

5 reasons why working at home is awesome

Did I mentioned in a previous post how awesome it was to work from home (checking ... yes, I did) ?

Here's what theoatmeal came up with  :

  1. No more waking up at 6am (or earlier) in the morning
  2. Less time spent in the car commuting
  3. Fewer interruptions from silly colleagues
  4. Less eating out crappy food
  5. Enjoying a flexible schedule
My little list was quite the same, but for some reasons, seeing it illustrates on Oatmeal just made me feel even better about it. See the full stuff (lack of vocabulary starting to hit me hard) directly there Why working at home is both awesome and horrible.

Now I'm about to read about the horrible aspect of ... Oh Gosh, ... yep, that is true, ... yep that also ... yep ... sure ... darn, they're good!

I've got a confession to make

As you may know I'm recently unemployed and so got a lot of spare time ; I really wanted to set my priorities and start from fresh my new life with new (good) habits and was thinking naively that the first thing to do was to define what I really wanted to do in life (that was my last post anyway) - I've even pushed the gusto by writing that I would come back with optimistic answers.

But since then nada, ... and I want to explain why and make this confession :

I'm hopelessly addicted to Reddit.

This began about a year ago, I just registered (because I've seen that little tiny alien head on a Wired.com article) and I even if I was used to social community website (like StumbleUpon or digg.com)  I knew from the very first day that this one was different.

Because there was a twist, something that get you hooked and that's the mix of being part of a community that for me is very representative of the internet (in all it's craziness and glory).

Basically it's like in Matrix (the movie featuring Keanu Reeves) you have the internet you see - and then you have the unseen internet, with hidden comments and upvote that only the reddit community can access.

Reddit is clever, it's smartly build and full of hilarious people (and trolls).

Let me share with you my daily addiction :

First I open the reddit page (having a look on the side in case my little envelope would be orange, telling me that some redditors have sent me a note).
Here on the main page is displayed all articles with a score for all subreddit I've joined.

Now the process starts, I would check the witty titles and the little picture on the left and immediately upvote Linux related subjects (maybe I shouldn't say that).

Next I open a few links and read the comments (also upvote the comments) and it feels good to reward people that makes you smile or laugh with karmas - sometime I put a little comment too,,,

And after 30mn (that looks like 5 minutes), I close reddit - do some important stuffs and incidentally when I got into a website that can be potentially interesting I would automatically submit the link to Reddit - to see what the other members would think of it.

And that's were I fall into the all read and upvote phenomenon for another half an hour.

Why is this so addictive ?

The killing feature is that instant feedback from others, also the fact that you'll always wonder what will be the reactions to the link you've just posted - (and the disappointment when your score is 0 ; man I hate when this happen).

Thanks to Reddit I've been able to overcome my fear of talking in public, I've been informed on many internet meme (which got me to witness Narwhal wrapped in bacon at some stage) ; discover many websites I wouldn't have found otherwise (xkcd.com is one of them).

But I want to put a stop to that ... Because I feel spending 3-4 hours a day for it, is getting in my way of doing what I really want to do.

Conclusion, I think ... I will have to delete my account at some stage*sob*
